Train Or Tornado

Have I told you all about the game I invented last year called “Train or Tornado?”

It’s a great game. Anyone with any sense of awareness can play, even pets. Here’s how it works:

1) Move next to an active train track. Bonus points* if it’s a freight line. Mega bonus points* if you pick a place on the right side of the tracks. (I only get bonus points on this.)

2) Wait for a stormy night. Bonus points again* if you fall asleep before the storm arrives. The game is always more fun when played while half-awake.

3) Listen for an approaching rumble. Feel the apartment start to shake? Now the game really begins.

4) Decide if the vibrations are due to an approaching train or an approaching tornado. Act accordingly.

5) Determine your score using the guide below:

A) You guessed train correctly. You’re right AND you get to stay in bed. Double win.

B) You guessed tornado correctly. You’re right but now you get to spend the night in a bathtub with a panicked rabbit and half a bottle of water. Half loss.

C) You guessed train incorrectly. You’re either incredibly lucky that you live in a 200 year old building, or you’re dead. Either way, you’re still in bed and you’re probably never going to play Train vs Tornado again. Half win.

D) You guessed tornado incorrectly. You’re wrong AND you’re out of bed in a panic for no reason. Double loss.

What I’m really trying to say here is that my state has had ice, snow, rain, heat, and an earthquake in the past week. I don’t know why anyone is surprised at a weather forecast calling for a cloudy skies with a chance of F5s for tonight.

Also, if I win Train or Tornado tonight, “cloudy skies with a chance of F5s” is the name of my next band. Or my next blogpost, which isn’t the joke but is far more accurate.

*Bonus points only count if you win. You only win if you live to play again. Train or Tornado is not a game for the faint-hearted

That is a funny game. Can the professor play?

Of course. Anyone can play. That’s the beauty of the game.

But I don’t know if I can have tornados here…
